Behind the scenes
- By Garett Finney

Whilst things seem to be quiet and unattended, site development continues at full throttle behind the scenes. It's been nearly 2 years since development of our new and exciting video download site has begun. At this point in time I would have to say that we are somewhere between 85 - 90% finished.
Unfortunately, our site design is a bit outdated at this point and will have to stay that way for awhile.

Back to work

Site construction is now continuing after a long break, and development cost debates. The developers have given a date for site completion at 2 and a half months from now. I would call that a miracle date. realistically you need to take the numbers any developers give you and double it. 6 months from now looks to me a more accurate date for a grand opening. I almost forgot. When the programming is done, we still need to fill the site with software and video demonstrations of the software. Fun fun fun.

This is an exciting day for me. The tedious development document has been completed. Now I can focus my energy on bringing valuable content to the web.
Hope I didn't forget anything hmm.. Something always seems to be forgotten. That's just the way it is. I just hope it's not something large.
The battle continues

The battle between man and document continues. Sometimes I wonder if I have the strength to continue writing about what needs to be done in order to bring this very large and beautiful site to completion. In the past, the developers and I were passing documents back and forth like they were nothing. I would write about what needed to be done for a section of the site and they would reply with "This and that have been completed". That made it easy, and rewarding to keep writing. Now I look forward to my last word typed about what needs to be done. Things are moving fairly quickly with the document. I am going over every site section and adding what I think should be done.

I really look forward to creating cool videos that show off the use of software applications, "Software Commercials". I spent quite a large amount of time researching great software I would need to product top quality movies. First things first right? Back to work!
ZzzzZz Document

I lost my concentration for awhile and have been training in the art of Screen-casting, video production, and animation instead of working on a tedious document that explains every developmental aspect of the new to come Software Commercials website. I have been working on development documents for the past 12 months and it was time for a long second breath. Now it's time to suck it up, bare down, and get that document done.
A Final Development Document
- By Garett Finney
- Published November 21st, 2007
A few months ago, the Software Commercials ™ developers requested the creation of a final document which contains everything necessarry to complete the sites design and development. The document is being referred to as "Final" because in the past, "The developers and I" have been sending documents back and forth regularly. If this site doesn't seem to update regularly enough, it's because I am working on that Final Document. The developers aren't doing anything to further the sites development until I get that document in. Then they can assess what kind of man power and how much time they will need to complete the site.
I guess the question is, "How long will it take me to complete the final document"? I can't answer that but if I had to take a guess, it's looking like 2-4 months. I don't want to leave anything out. If I do leave something out then it will not be developed.

Site Design and Development Blogs

I will be posting all of the software commercials™ design and development information, along with a few personal ramblings through these blogs.
A bit of history; The Software Commercials website, "Not the one you see as of now but the one that will be eventually taking over this space" has been in development since late 2006. With no more than a small hand full of developers, I have been attempting to construct the internets "Finest" freeware, shareware, and commercial download site, which requires Video Demonstrations of every software title listed. Hopefully this will ensure the making of a top quality page that will someday be overflowing with valuable content.
While we continue on with site design and development, I will be posting software reviews, video demonstrations, and video tutorials. Everything I post will revolve around video, just like the main softwarecommercials.com site will.
